What is a Facelift?

A facelift is a surgical procedure that aims to change the contours of your face by rearranging your facial tissue, muscles, and skin. This results in a younger, more rejuvenated look. It also reduces the appearance of wrinkles and other age-related skin concerns by tightening the skin on your face. When the skin on your face is lifted, the underlying facial structures that give your face definition are repositioned. This gives your face visible contours and definition. The procedure involves elevating your skin and working on the fat just beneath your skin. The muscles under your fat are also tightened to tone your face. If there is an excess amount of fat, it will be removed with liposuction. A facelift is a highly effective treatment.

What Does a Facelift Treat?

A facelift is used to address the common signs of aging, such as sagging skin, fallen fat, cheek and jaw jowls, excess fat under the chin, deep folds, and wrinkles. However, facelift surgery can also be used by younger patients who wish to effectively address facial depressions or remove excess skin. Although a facelift cannot change your overall appearance, it can treat certain areas of your face and improve your skin’s overall health. It is also important to note that a facelift cannot correct fine lines, thinning skin, and brown spots. It is effective when dealing with the quantity of excess skin tissue.

Types of Facelifts

There are many types of facelift procedures available on the market. Each one of them can address different concerns with different incisions. Before making a final decision on a facelift, you will need to schedule a consultation with us. During this consultation, we will discuss your concerns and goals, review your medical history, and assess your current health and skin condition to determine which facelift procedure will suit your needs. It is important to make an informed decision. Here are some facelift procedures that we offer:

Mini Facelift

During a mini facelift, shorter incisions are made, which means the recovery period is shorter and results in less scarring. A mini facelift is also much less invasive than other facelift procedures. During the procedure, we will use local anesthesia with a variable degree of sedation. The results that you achieve with this type of surgery are natural-looking.

Deep Plane Facelift

A deep plane facelift addresses the mid-face area. It tightens sagging skin by replacing the tissue to add volume to your face. This procedure is more advanced than other facelift procedures. The results that you gain from a deep place facelift are long-lasting and natural-looking. Your face will not look expressionless.

What is Rhytidectomy?

During a Rhytidectomy procedure, the skin of your face will be elevated, and the muscle and tissue beneath your skin will be tightened. Fat that surrounds the neck area may be moved, sculpted, or even removed from your neck. The skin of your face is then re-draped over your newly repositioned facial contours. Open wounds will be closed with tape or stitches, and excess skin will be removed. The incisions will be bandaged to provide gentle pressure. A small drainage tube will then be inserted under your skin behind your ears to drain blood or other fluids.

Full Facelift

A full Facelift targets a multitude of concerns. We will always make sure that your results appear natural and that incisions are made behind your ears to avoid visible scarring. A full facelift typically addresses these four main areas:

Neck.

Lower face, including lips.

Forehead and upper eyelids.

Mid-face and lower eyelids.

Recovery

You will need someone to drive you home after your procedure and have someone with you for about a day to assist with difficult tasks. Bandages will be placed around your face after surgery. We will provide you with detailed instructions that are easy to do so that you can have a speedy recovery and start enjoying the benefits of facelift surgery. You will have your drainage tubes removed one day after your surgical procedure. You will have a few follow-up sessions within the next two months after your procedure to track your healing progress. Once your wounds are mostly healed, we will provide a facial sling to support your face during the recovery period.
